The agreement was signed on Thursday, 24 July, at Robi’s corporate office in Dhaka by BIID Foundation CEO Shahid Uddin Akbar and Robi’s Chief Corporate and Regulatory Officer, Shahed Alam. Also present were senior officials from both organizations, including Sharif Shah Jamal Raj, Director of Corporate Affairs and Sustainability at Robi.
The signing ceremony marked the beginning of a strategic partnership aimed at fostering innovation, bridging the digital divide, and creating effective digital solutions in areas such as nutrition, healthy lifestyles, ICT education, entrepreneurship development, and youth empowerment.
“This partnership reflects our strong commitment to inclusive and sustainable development,” said Shahid Uddin Akbar, CEO of BIID Foundation. “By combining BIID’s grassroots experience with Robi’s robust digital infrastructure and extensive network, we aim to bring about real change in areas like nutrition, digital literacy, and youth empowerment, particularly improving the lives of underserved communities.”
Highlighting Robi’s digital strength and its role as a responsible business entity, Shahed Alam stated, “We are proud to collaborate with the BIID Foundation to empower people and communities through technology. Together, we aim to build a smart and inclusive Bangladesh.”
Under this partnership, the organizations will work on digital solutions related to nutrition, youth engagement in health and environmental issues, dissemination of digital education among youth and rural populations, expanding access to entrepreneurship-enabling services and digital platforms, and implementing community-centered initiatives such as Nirvoy, Clean and Green Campus, and tree plantation drives.
Through this MoU, Robi Axiata PLC and the BIID Foundation have set a new benchmark for cross-sector collaboration in driving national development.
