Chief Adviser of the interim government, Professor Muhammad Yunus, has advised Tarique Rahman—Chairperson of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) and leader of the party that secured an absolute majority in the 13th National Parliamentary Election—to prioritize economic transformation alongside technological advancement and climate resilience.

He offered this advice in a congratulatory message sent on Saturday, February 14, following BNP’s landslide victory in the election.

In his message, the Chief Adviser stated that Bangladesh now stands at the threshold of new possibilities in the global arena. He emphasized that coordinated application of intellect, thoughtfulness, and wisdom is essential in areas such as economic transformation, technological progress, climate resilience, human resource development, and active participation in regional and international diplomacy.

He expressed hope that under Tarique Rahman’s leadership, national unity would be strengthened and that democratic values, the rule of law, and accountable governance would be further consolidated.

At the beginning of the message, Professor Yunus extended heartfelt congratulations, saying that BNP’s overwhelming majority under Tarique Rahman’s leadership marks a significant milestone in Bangladesh’s democratic transition. He described the people’s clear mandate as an important step in ensuring constitutional and democratic continuity and institutional stability in the country.

The Chief Adviser said he firmly believes that in fulfilling the heavy responsibility of state leadership, Tarique Rahman will guide the nation toward a stable, inclusive, and development-oriented path through wisdom, democratic values, and a people-centered vision.

He also recalled the ideals and state philosophy of former President Ziaur Rahman and the uncompromising leadership and commitment to democracy of former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia. He expressed hope that their ideals and legacy would illuminate Tarique Rahman’s future path.

The Chief Adviser further thanked Tarique Rahman for his valuable cooperation and constructive role during the tenure of the interim government. He noted that maintaining a democratic environment, demonstrating tolerance, and respecting constitutional processes during this sensitive period of transition played an important role in safeguarding national interests.

In conclusion, he wished success in all initiatives aimed at public welfare, justice, and building a prosperous Bangladesh, and prayed that Almighty Allah grant Tarique Rahman wisdom, patience, and determination in serving the country and its people.
