EC Reinforces Monitoring Cell by Deploying 10 Officials Ahead of National Election
The Election Commission (EC) has included 10 additional officials from various forces and departments in its Law and Order and Misinformation Monitoring Cell for the upcoming referendum and the 13th National Parliamentary Election.
The development was disclosed in a letter signed on Monday, 9 February, by EC Senior Assistant Secretary Md. Shahidul Islam.
According to the letter, the Law and Order and Misinformation Monitoring Cell serves as the central hub for observing the overall law and order situation across the country during the upcoming 13th National Parliamentary Election and the referendum. Representatives from different ministries, departments, forces, and agencies are already performing duties in the cell.
However, due to the extensive scope and highly demanding nature of the cell’s operations, additional officials are required to ensure its effective management.
To conduct the activities smoothly and efficiently, the letter states that the ICT Division (at the deputy secretary level), one major-ranked officer each from the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), Coast Guard, and Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), two officers from Ansar and VDP, and four officers of superintendent of police (SP) rank from the police force are needed. Accordingly, the relevant authorities have been requested to nominate suitable officers for these positions.
