Apu Biswas to Make OTT Debut with Thriller Web Film ‘Shikar’
After a brief hiatus, Dhallywood’s celebrated “Beauty Queen” Apu Biswas is set to return to a busy work schedule, marking her debut on an OTT platform with the upcoming thriller web film ‘Shikar’. The project will be directed by Kamruzzaman Roman, best known for his work on ‘Jinn 3’.
Produced under the banner of Reza Films Production, the web film is based on a story written by Abdullah Zahir Babu, with cinematography handled by DOP Saiful Shahin.
According to sources, Apu Biswas will be seen opposite Palash, a newcomer to the screen. If everything proceeds as planned, shooting is scheduled to begin in Nepal in March. Alongside Apu and Palash, the cast also includes Barda Mithu, Rashed Mamun Apu, and several other actors in key roles.
Sharing her feelings about returning to the camera after a long break, Apu Biswas told the media, “Cinema is the core of my identity. It is through films that I became Apu Biswas. I have received the audience’s love and support from this medium. So, even if it takes time, I am truly happy to be returning with a good film.”
Praising director Kamruzzaman Roman, she said, “He is a talented filmmaker who is extremely attentive to both story and execution. The story is different, and that finesse is clearly reflected in his direction as well.”
‘Shikar’, based on a story by Abdullah Zahir Babu and directed by Kamruzzaman Roman, will be shot at various scenic locations across Nepal. In addition to Apu Biswas and Palash, Barda Mithu, Rashed Mamun Apu, and several other actors will appear in important roles.
Meanwhile, Apu Biswas is currently busy shooting for two other upcoming films—‘Secret’, directed by Bondhon Biswas, and ‘Durbar’, directed by Kamrul Hasan Fuad. In ‘Secret’, she stars opposite Ador Azad, while in ‘Durbar’, she pairs up with Sajal. The actress has also lost weight to prepare for her new roles.
Apu Biswas began her Dhallywood career with director Amjad Hossain’s film ‘Kal Shokale’. She gained widespread popularity after portraying the lead role in the 2006 blockbuster ‘Koti Takar Kabin’. Most recently, she was seen in the 2024 release ‘Chhaya Brikkho’.
