State-owned Bangladesh Telecommunications Company Limited (BTCL) has announced up to a threefold increase in internet speeds across its existing broadband packages without changing monthly prices at the end-user level. In addition, BTCL will provide a free ONT/router with internet connections of 50 Mbps or higher.

The announcement was made through an official notice issued on Sunday, January 11.

According to the notice, under the revised packages, the BDT 399 plan has been upgraded from 5 Mbps to 20 Mbps, while the BDT 500 package now offers 25 Mbps instead of 12 Mbps. The Campus-15 package, previously offering 15 Mbps, has been upgraded to 50 Mbps. Among these, the Campus-50 service will be available as a prepaid package exclusively for educational institutions.

Additionally, the BDT 800 package has been enhanced from 15 Mbps to 50 Mbps. Other upgraded packages include 100 Mbps at BDT 1,050, 120 Mbps at BDT 1,150, 130 Mbps at BDT 1,300, 150 Mbps at BDT 1,500, and 170 Mbps at BDT 1,700.

However, customers will be required to pay area-based connection fees or security deposits to avail of these services. Moreover, by adding BDT 100 to the monthly package, subscribers can obtain a telephone connection along with free BTCL-to-BTCL calls.

Interested customers must apply for connections and services through the Telesheba app.
