Seven individuals, including five teachers and two officials/staff members, have been dismissed from Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET). The decision was taken at a recent syndicate meeting of the university. The administration stated that they were dismissed following investigations due to various reasons including violating university laws, joining jobs with fake experience certificates, and age-related issues during recruitment.

The dismissed teachers are Professor Dr. Pintu Chandra Shill of the CSE Department, Professor Dr. Subrata Talapatra of IEM, Assistant Professor Nibir Mondal of the ESE Department, Professor Dr. Masrura Mostofa of the Humanities and Business Department, Assistant Professor Shahriar Roman of the same department, Deputy Registrar Nimai Chandra Mistry, and Office Assistant Satyajit Kumar Datta. All seven dismissed individuals had been temporarily suspended for a long time.

Investigations reveal that students lodged complaints against CSE Department Professor Dr. Pintu Chandra Shill following the 2024 mass uprising, leading to his temporary suspension. During his suspension, he did not regularly attend the KUET campus, and his name appeared as a teacher on the websites of two private universities without KUET's permission, resulting in his dismissal.

Professor Dr. Subrata Talapatra joined the university as a lecturer on October 20, 2010. His age exceeded 30 at the time of application, which is unacceptable under university rules.

Professor Masrura Mostofa of the Humanities and Business Department was also over 30 when applying for the lecturer post, and she secured a promotion by counting private university job experience during her appointment as an assistant professor, which violates university regulations.

Assistant Professor Shahriar Roman of the same department was required to have first-class results in both honors and master's exams according to the lecturer recruitment circular. Despite achieving second class in both degrees, he secured employment through forgery. Furthermore, he cited two research papers under his name during his assistant professor application which were nonexistent.

Professor Nibir Mondal showed project job experience upon joining, which is unacceptable under university recruitment rules. Moreover, although he went abroad with authority permission during suspension, he failed to return within the specified date and rejoin his workplace, leading to his termination.

Deputy Registrar Nimai Chandra Mistry submitted false and fabricated experience for the section officer post, while Office Assistant Satyajit Kumar Datta secured a university job by reducing his age on his national identity card.

Meanwhile, it is known that Deputy Registrar Nimai Chandra and Teacher Nibir Mondal had filed writs in the High Court regarding their suspension. However, the KUET Registrar's office stated that their matters were handled legally, noting that they did not file writs regarding the charges against them, but rather filed writs concerning the rule that no one can be suspended for more than six months.

KUET Registrar Engineer Md. Anichur Rahman Bhuiyan stated that seven individuals were dismissed in accordance with the decision of the university's 115th syndicate meeting. They faced prior allegations, leading to their temporary suspensions. Following investigations, explanations were sought from them, some of whom responded while others did not. Finally, the syndicate unanimously decided to dismiss the five teachers, one officer, and one staff member.
