CREST' to be set up in the country on Monday
A Centre of Research Excellence in Semiconductor Technology (CREST) is going to be inaugurated on Monday, December 29, at BRAC University in the capital. Bangladesh is expected to take another step towards a knowledge-based and innovation-based economy through this center based on national unity and momentum created at the Conference on Biotechnology, Electronics, Artificial Intelligence and Robotics (BEAR Summit) held on July 16-17. It is learned that the next chapter of Bangladesh's global semiconductor journey through Silicon River and the new research center based on the strength of the Beer Summit will be presented at the opening ceremony. At the same time, the progress of international connectivity of Bangladesh will also be presented. Particular mention will be made of the Malaysia Roadshow, organized by the Bangladesh Semiconductor Industry Association, which has further strengthened Bangladesh's linkages with the regional semiconductor ecosystem.
At the same time, the role of expatriate Bangladeshis organized through the BrainGain initiative will also be discussed. They are bringing global experience, guidance and early industry to the country, which is being considered as a strategic asset for national development.
Professor Mohammad Mostafa Hussain of Purdue University, one of the initiators of this initiative, said that the blood of millions of innocent patriotic martyrs is not rewarded, but they have to fold their own hands to build the country of their dreams. Inshallah tomorrow the curtain will rise, the commandos will be brought down to make Bangladesh a silicon river. What happened in less than a year will be presented before the people of the country. Who has given birth to the horse egg in power and released the photo card. And how the common people of the country will forget the time and place in the country and what Alhamdulillah has done, is doing and InshaAllah will do to take the country forward.
"" "Let them ignore the responsibility of those responsible for the murder of Shahid Hadi, but let his eight-month-old baby say 50 years from now, I am the CEO of this semiconductor company, Insha'Allah, on whose chip the whole world depends." "" And my father was one of the heroes of the war. Insha Allah, stand on your feet for Insaaf against domination, raise your head and look into the eyes of any evil force, do not dare to look at Bangladesh.
According to sources, the research centre will initially support undergraduate and postgraduate students of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology, Dhaka University, North South University, BRAC University, East West University, Asia Pacific University and United International University. Through this, students will have access to advanced training, research opportunities and opportunities to engage with real semiconductor problems. At the same time, nine national semiconductor training centers are being set up in various important educational institutions of the country. These include Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology, Dhaka University, American International University Bangladesh, United International University, Military Institute of Science and Technology, BRAC University and other partner institutions.
Bangladesh Semiconductor Industry Association (BSIA), the coordinator of the initiative, said the national capacity will be enhanced through hands-on training and structured skill development in these centers.
With some challenges, including the complexity of the procurement process and policy ambiguity, entrepreneurs are going to implement this initiative by combining national guidance, coordination and implementation capacity.
Meanwhile, Bangladesh's online semiconductor technology platform is being developed under the leadership of the Military Institute of Science and Technology, which will serve as a national virtual center envisioned at the Beer Summit. Through this platform, students, teachers, expatriate Bangladeshi experts and local and foreign industries will be able to join a digital network and exchange education, mentorship, joint projects and opportunities.
The Beer Summit marks a significant turning point in Bangladesh's deep-tech future. The conference brings together policymakers, academic researchers, industry representatives, international experts and the young generation in a common vision. The research center is launching an institutional initiative to make that vision a reality, which will be carried out under the larger national ecosystem framework called 'Silicon River'.
Silicon River is an integrated national concept, where talent, universities, research infrastructure, industry participation, global partnerships and policymaking are being combined into one framework. A major pillar of this system is the new research center, where research, training and industrial innovation will be carried forward together.
The research centre has been set up under the aegis of Neural Semiconductors Limited. This is a notable example of the active participation of the country's industry, where a local institution is directly investing in building the national research and innovation infrastructure.
Semiconductor technology is the foundation of the modern world. Electronic devices, artificial intelligence, robotics, health technology, energy systems and advanced manufacturing are all dependent on this technology. Through the Research Centre and the Silicon River Framework, Bangladesh is moving beyond the era of isolated initiatives and entering into an integrated national trajectory by bringing together academia, research, industry, expatriate experts and policymakers, the foundation of which was laid at the Beer Summit.
