Bangladesh is procuring Eurofighter Typhoon fighter aircraft from Italy. For this purpose, a Letter of Intent (LoI) has been signed with the Italian defence equipment manufacturer Leonardo S.p.A. The agreement was signed on Tuesday, 9 December, at the Bangladesh Air Force Headquarters in Dhaka, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

Discussions on purchasing the Eurofighter Typhoon— a multi-role combat aircraft (MRCA) — had been underway for some time. As part of this process, the Bangladesh Air Force formally signed the LoI with Leonardo S.p.A.

ISPR reported that Air Chief Marshal Hasan Mahmood Khan, Chief of the Bangladesh Air Force, and Antonio Alessandro, the Italian Ambassador to Bangladesh, were present at the signing ceremony held at the Air Force Headquarters.

Also in attendance were Principal Staff Officer of the Armed Forces Division Lieutenant General S M Kamrul Hassan and representatives from both nations.

According to a post on the official Facebook page of the Bangladesh Air Force, under this LoI, Leonardo will supply Eurofighter Typhoon combat aircraft as part of integrating advanced MRCA platforms into the frontline capabilities of the Bangladesh Air Force.
