To strengthen disaster preparedness and accelerate emergency assistance in Bangladesh’s climate-vulnerable regions, leading telecommunications infrastructure provider EDOTCO Bangladesh has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Bangladesh Red Crescent Society (BDRCS).

The MoU was signed recently at the BDRCS national headquarters in the presence of EDOTCO Bangladesh’s Country Managing Director (CMD) Sunil Isaac and BDRCS Chairman Major General (Retd.) Professor Dr. Md. Azizul Islam. Senior officials from both organisations were also present at the signing ceremony.

Under the agreement, EDOTCO and BDRCS will collaborate to enhance sustainable capacity in disaster-prone zones. The initiatives will be implemented through solar-powered communication systems, safe-shelter assistance, and targeted community development programmes.

During emergencies, the Bangladesh Red Crescent Society will lead humanitarian support and community mobilisation, while EDOTCO will ensure uninterrupted power supply and maintain network availability at critical locations.

The partnership aims to strengthen early warning dissemination, reinforce field-level preparedness, and restore communication services swiftly during crises. As part of improving national-level readiness, both organisations will jointly conduct drills, provide preparedness training to volunteers, and facilitate field exercises.

EDOTCO Bangladesh’s CMD Sunil Isaac said, “This partnership reflects our shared commitment to strengthening disaster readiness and post-disaster rehabilitation. EDOTCO’s strong network resilience and power-backup capabilities, combined with Red Crescent’s longstanding humanitarian expertise, will help us deliver early warnings, support safe evacuation, and restore essential communication services quickly in highly affected areas. Through solar-powered telecom systems, safe shelter support, and community development initiatives, we aim to build sustainable resilience where climate risks are highest. Together, we are moving toward a more prepared, safer, and better-connected Bangladesh.”
