The Election Commission is introducing a QR code system to prevent fake journalists from gaining access during elections, Election Commissioner Abul Fazal Md. Sanaullah said on the morning of December 3 at a journalist training workshop at the Election Training Institute (ETI) in Agargaon.

He added that this election would be unprecedented in the country’s history and emphasized that transparent elections cannot be ensured without the media. To prevent fake journalists from carrying unauthorized press cards, the commission is implementing QR codes.

During the session, he noted that there is no way to increase polling centers, and an average voter would take approximately 3 minutes and 52 seconds to cast their vote.

Senior Secretary of the Election Commission Secretariat, Akhtar Ahmed, also stated at the workshop that for the four questions in the referendum, voters cannot give partial agreement or disagreement—they must vote either yes or no.

The workshop was presided over by ETI Director General Mohammad Hasanuzzaman and attended by EC Secretary Akhtar Ahmed.
