Postal Vote BD App Passes 128,000 Expat Registrations

Registrations by expatriate Bangladeshis on the ‘Postal Vote BD’ app for participating in the 13th National Parliamentary Election have surpassed 128,000. The Election Commission (EC) will send ballot papers by postal mail to the registered expatriates within the stipulated time.

The information was confirmed through an analysis of data available on the EC’s website on the morning of Tuesday, 2 December.

Registration for Bangladeshis living abroad began on 19 November and will continue until the end of December.

Countries where registration is currently underway include: South Korea, Japan, South Africa, China, Egypt, Mozambique, Libya, Mauritius, Hong Kong, Brazil, Uganda, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Ethiopia, Nigeria, Liberia, Botswana, Kenya, Rwanda, Algeria, Angola, Tanzania, Somalia, Ghana, Guinea, Morocco, South Sudan, Chile, Sierra Leone, Ecuador, Taiwan, Argentina, Australia, the Central African Republic, The Gambia, Peru, Zimbabwe, the United States, among others.

As of 10:00 am, a total of 128,269 expatriates had registered.

According to the EC, postal ballots will be mailed to those who register through the app. After casting their votes on the ballot paper, voters must send it back to the returning officer in the designated return envelope.

The Election Commission is preparing to hold the 13th National Parliamentary Election in the first half of February. The EC is operating with a target of approximately 5 million expatriate voters.
