JUST Textile Department Hosts Welcoming and Farewell Festivities

A colorful celebration marking the reception of new students and the farewell of outgoing students was held at the Textile Engineering (TE) Department of Jashore University of Science and Technology (JUST). The event included flower presentations, souvenirs, a color fest, photoshoots, and cultural performances.

The ceremony took place on Monday, 1 December, at the Professor Mohammad Sharif Hossain Gallery of the Kazi Nazrul Islam Academic Building, organized by the TE Department. The Vice-Chancellor of JUST, Professor Dr. Md. Abdul Majid, attended as the chief guest.

In his address, the Vice-Chancellor emphasized that the university administration is responsible for students’ academic and overall well-being from admission to graduation. He urged students to communicate any difficulties to the administration, faculty deans, department heads, provosts, or student advisory offices, and stressed the importance of responsibility alongside emotion.

Addressing the freshers, the Vice-Chancellor highlighted the department’s vast potential and the pivotal role of Bangladesh’s garment industry in the national economy. He encouraged students to excel academically, engage in research, develop their careers, and aspire to become successful entrepreneurs, emphasizing that their personal success contributes to national progress.

The event was presided over by TE Department Chair and Assistant Professor Salma Khatun Shila, with special remarks from Faculty of Engineering and Technology Dean Md. Amzad Hossain, Dr. Engi. Other faculty members and students were also present. The program was hosted by TE students Md. Safi and Abdullah-al-Noman, and concluded with an evening cultural performance featuring departmental students.
