Bangladesh will collectively work toward developing and implementing new and innovative water purification technologies, through a joint initiative between mobile operator Robi Axiata and the international organization WaterAid Bangladesh. To this end, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between the two organizations at Robi’s corporate office in Dhaka.

The agreement was signed by WaterAid Bangladesh’s Country Director Hasin Jahan and Robi’s Chief Corporate and Regulatory Officer Sahed Alam. Also present were WaterAid Director (Technical Services) Md. Tahmidul Islam and Robi’s Public Affairs and Sustainability Director Sharif Shah Jamal Raj, along with other senior officials.

Through this partnership, safe and clean water will be made easily accessible daily to passengers at railway stations and communities in the surrounding areas.

Based on the success of the “Safe Water, Healthy Life” project—jointly implemented by WaterAid Bangladesh and Bangladesh Railway—10 water purification stations have already been installed at several major railway stations across the country. These facilities are supplying safe drinking water to approximately 452,000 people annually. The new agreement will further expand this initiative and ensure sustainable solutions for water safety and purity.
