Smart Entry, Green Vision: National Botanical Garden Launches e-Ticketing Platform
To modernize the National Botanical Garden and make the visitor entry process simpler, more transparent, and eco-friendly, an advanced e-ticketing platform was inaugurated today. The launching ceremony took place on Wednesday, November 12, at the National Botanical Garden in Mirpur, Dhaka. Dr. Farhina Ahmed, Secretary of the Ministry of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change, inaugurated the platform as the chief guest.
From now on, visitors can purchase QR code-based tickets through the myGov digital platform or the Forest Department’s website, which can be used via smartphone or as a printed copy.
Implemented jointly by the Forest Department and a2i (Aspire to Innovate), this platform marks a new milestone in the digital transformation of park management in Bangladesh. Visitors can now purchase tickets online from home and visit the garden on their preferred date—eliminating long queues, saving time, and ensuring full transparency in ticket sales. Moreover, the reduced use of paper will contribute to environmental conservation.
As chief guest, Dr. Farhina Ahmed said, “This initiative will play a special role in conserving natural forests and biodiversity and in raising environmental awareness among the public. Through this e-ticketing platform, a new chapter of smart conservation management has begun in Bangladesh.” She also emphasized the importance of introducing similar e-ticketing systems in other environmentally significant sites across the country, expressing hope that the initiative would deepen urban residents’ connection with nature. According to her, the platform will enhance efficiency in garden management and open new opportunities for research.
Special guests at the event included a2i Project Director (Joint Secretary) Md. Abdur Rafique and Joint Secretary (Forest) of the Environment Ministry Shamima Begum. The event was chaired by Chief Conservator of Forests Md. Amir Hossain Chowdhury. Officials from the Forest Department, a2i, ICT Division, National Zoo, Bangladesh National Herbarium, as well as journalists and environmentalists, attended the ceremony.
Speakers remarked that the National Botanical Garden serves as an important center for environmental and biodiversity conservation. They added that this e-ticketing initiative will not only modernize visitor services but also stand as a model of digital public service in the making of a Smart Bangladesh.
