Robi Axiata Limited has appointed Hamza Choudhury, the young footballer who has made a mark in European club football, as its goodwill ambassador for the next one year. The appointment reflects the belief that “You too can excel in football,” and the company expressed confidence that Hamza’s journey will inspire aspiring players across Bangladesh. Hamza also voiced optimism about Bangladesh’s upcoming match against India.

The agreement signing ceremony was held on Tuesday, November 11, at Robi’s corporate headquarters in Tejgaon, Dhaka. Speaking at the event, Hamza said that wearing the national colors has been a defining emotional experience for him.

“In spite of receiving an attractive offer from Leicester City in England, it was the pull of my roots that brought me back,” he said. “For the past eight months, the feeling of stepping onto the field wearing the red and green flag has been something entirely different.”

Robi’s Managing Director and CEO, Ziad Shatara, handed over the agreement document to Hamza. The event was also attended by Robi’s Chief Marketing Officer Shawkat Kader Chowdhury, Chief Commercial Officer Shihab Ahmad, and Company Secretary Shahed Alam, among other officials.

Hamza’s appointment reinforces Robi’s focus on nurturing local sporting talent and promoting football culture among the nation’s youth.

Robi Managing Director and CEO Ziad Satara said at the press conference, "On behalf of the Robi family, we welcome Hamza Chowdhury. By playing for Bangladesh, Hamza Chowdhury has returned to his roots and demonstrated a strong patriotic spirit. This is also the main idea of Robi's 'Believe You Can' campaign - self-confidence, determination and patriotism. Hamza Chowdhury is a symbol of new inspiration for the youth, combining international prestige and Bangladeshi roots."

Speaking at the press conference, Hamza Chowdhury said, “I am extremely happy and proud to be associated with Robi Axiata PLC. Robi is not just a brand, it is a symbol of confidence and positive change for the youth of Bangladesh. I believe that the idea of ‘You can do it too’ also reflects my own life journey – where hard work, perseverance and love for my roots have taken me forward. Wearing the Bangladesh jersey is one of the proudest moments of my life, and this partnership with Robi has made that journey even more meaningful.”
