Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman has inaugurated the party’s online payment gateway for renewing expatriate memberships and enrolling new members. He joined the event virtually from London on Sunday evening, November 2, at the Lakeshore Hotel in Gulshan, Dhaka.

At the beginning of the ceremony, a short video was presented outlining the process of obtaining BNP’s primary membership and paying the associated fees online. The video explained that members from any part of the world can now register through the party’s official website.

The event was presided over by BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir. Among those present were Standing Committee members Abdul Moyeen Khan, Nazrul Islam Khan, Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury, A.Z.M. Zahid Hossain, Gayeshwar Chandra Roy, the Acting Chairman’s Foreign Affairs Adviser Humayun Kabir, and Media Cell Convener Maudud Alamgir Hossain, among others.

As chief guest, Tarique Rahman announced, “The name of the party’s single candidate will be announced soon.” He added, “We will gradually announce the names of BNP’s nominated candidates for different constituencies. Whoever receives the party nomination, I sincerely urge every believer in the Bangladesh nationalist spirit to work in unity to ensure their victory.”

He cautioned party members, saying, “Remember, around you lurk covert autocrats harboring hidden ambitions. Therefore, internal rivalries, disputes, or divisions must not be taken to a level where the opposition can exploit your internal differences.”

Referring to expatriate voting rights, Tarique Rahman remarked, “The BNP, if entrusted with state responsibility by the people’s verdict, will make the overseas voting process more convenient in the future.” He further said, “For the first time, expatriates are being allowed to vote, which may seem complicated to some. Nonetheless, I extend sincere congratulations and appreciation to the Election Commission on behalf of our party for enabling expatriates to exercise their voting rights. In sha Allah, when BNP assumes responsibility for state governance, we will take further measures to simplify the overseas voting process.”

BNP Treasurer Rashiduzzaman Millat delivered the welcome address at the event.
