JUST Observes World Teachers’ Day with Respect and Recognition
In alignment with global observance, Jessore University of Science and Technology (JUST) celebrated World Teachers’ Day 2025 with a vibrant rally and brief speeches aimed at honoring educators and inspiring all teachers to continue their invaluable contribution to nation-building.
As part of the celebration, a colorful rally was brought out at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday, October 5, from in front of the National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam Academic Building. The rally, led by JUST Treasurer Professor Dr. Hossain Al Mamun, started from the venue and proceeded past the Sir Jagadish Chandra Bose Academic Building, before concluding again at the Kazi Nazrul Islam Academic Building.
Following the rally, in his brief remarks to the teachers, the university’s Treasurer Professor Dr. Hossain Al Mamun said, “Today is World Teachers’ Day. On this day, I express my profound respect and gratitude to all our teachers who are tirelessly working as the torchbearers of education in the nation. Teachers are indeed the foundation of nation-building. It is through your knowledge, dedication, and moral leadership that students become enlightened individuals who guide the nation toward the right path. Let us together create an environment where teachers are held in the highest esteem, and education becomes the true source of light.”
He further added, “The due respect for teachers must not remain in words alone—it must be ensured through practical measures. I believe that a separate pay scale for teachers is essential for maintaining educational quality and dignity. This is not only a fair demand but also a prerequisite for the stability and advancement of our education system.”
Dr. Md. Korban Ali, Convener of the Deans’ Committee, also addressed the rally. Among others, Professor Dr. Md. Sirajul Islam, Dean of the Faculty of Biological Science and Technology; Professor Dr. Shirin Nigar, Dean of the Faculty of Applied Science and Technology; Professor Dr. Md. Ziaul Amin, Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine; department chairpersons; and faculty members from various departments of the university were present. The program was conducted by Dr. Md. Amjad Hossain, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology.
According to the Ministry of Education and related sources, World Teachers’ Day has been celebrated globally every year on October 5 since 1995, with observances now taking place in more than 100 countries. The event is coordinated by Education International and its 401 affiliated member organizations. The theme of World Teachers’ Day 2025 is “The Teaching Profession: The Power of Collective Effort.”
