Telenor CEO Talks, Tours, and Transforms in First Bangladesh Visit

On her maiden visit to Bangladesh, Telenor Group President and CEO Benedicte Schilbred Fasmer directly engaged with both retailers and customers. She visited a Grameenphone partner shop at Kajla Bazar near Dhaka Airport, where she listened attentively to their experiences, challenges, and aspirations. Fasmer also met with Grameenphone’s enterprise clients, spent time with the Grameenphone team, and toured office floors to interact personally with employees.

Later, at a town hall address, she shared her vision for Telenor Group and highlighted how Grameenphone could introduce next-level solutions to drive Bangladesh’s future economy forward.

According to a press release issued on Tuesday, September 30, Fasmer undertook this market visit on Sunday, September 28, accompanied by senior members of the sales team.

Speaking about her Bangladesh trip, Telenor Group President and CEO Benedicte Schilbred Fasmer said: “Bangladesh is one of Telenor’s most dynamic markets. For me, it was important to first meet the people we serve every day. By speaking directly with customers and spending time with colleagues and partners at Grameenphone, I have seen how connectivity is unlocking opportunities across society. I am truly inspired by the energy, innovation, and potential of Bangladesh.”

Grameenphone CEO Yasir Azman remarked: “We are proud to welcome Benedicte on her first visit to Bangladesh as Group CEO. Her immediate connection with customers and employees reflects the core of our business—putting people first. Her discussions with the business community and her encouragement to our team have reinforced our determination to lead Bangladesh’s digital progress with responsibility and ambition.”
