JUST Inaugurates Cutting-Edge Computer Lab For Applied Statistics & Data Science Department

Facilitating advanced computational analytics and artificial intelligence research, Jashore University of Science and Technology (JUST) has inaugurated a state-of-the-art computer laboratory for its Department of Applied Statistics and Data Science (ASDS). The facility provides computing infrastructure to train students in real-world data science engineering and predictive modeling.

JUST Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Md. Yeakub Kabir formally inaugurated the departmental lab on Sunday, 1 November 2026, at 11:00 AM. The modern facility is situated on the 6th floor of the Michael Madhusudan Dutt Central Library-cum-Academic Building on campus.

The ceremony was attended by Dean of the Faculty of Science Prof. Dr. Mohammad Hafiz Uddin alongside ASDS Department Chairman Dr. Md. Kurban Ali, together with faculty members and research scholars.

Addressing the assembly, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Md. Yeakub Kabir stated that predictive data modeling, statistical computing, and data architecture represent crucial competencies in the contemporary global knowledge economy. He noted that the computing facility will allow students to move beyond theoretical statistics into hands-on implementations of data mining, deep learning, natural language processing, and artificial intelligence frameworks. He emphasized that building high-capacity domestic talent will support national digital infrastructure while positioning graduates for high-value careers internationally.

Departmental leadership noted that the lab integrates high-performance workstations, uninterrupted gigabit connectivity, and enterprise statistical computing environments.
