Pathao Pay Premieres: Fintech Flexibility for the Future
On Tuesday, July 8, ride-sharing platform Pathao officially launched its new digital fintech solution, Pathao Pay, under the tagline "Your YOUniverse, Your Way." As part of its inaugural campaign, users of Pathao Pay are eligible to receive up to BDT 3,000 in cashback across the company’s core services—up to BDT 1,000 for Pathao Food, BDT 1,000 for car rides, BDT 500 for bike rides, and BDT 500 for parcel deliveries.
According to sources, the Pathao Pay wallet enables users to conduct digital transactions beyond ride-hailing and food delivery. With this new platform, customers can split bills with friends, send money, receive funds without sharing personal information via a Pay Tag, utilize Split Pay for shared expenses, use Group Send Money to send funds to multiple recipients at once, and automate payments through Auto-Pay.
Pathao CEO Fahim Ahmed announced that the company has also introduced the Pathao Pay Card, powered by Mastercard and supported by Mutual Trust Bank PLC. The new card allows users to recharge mobile phones directly from the app and add money using debit or credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, AMEX) or Nagad accounts.
The Pathao Pay Card is available in three unique designs—Starlit Horizon, Purple Haze, and Sunshine Beach. It features real-time wallet balance syncing, dual currency support, NFC tap-and-pay functionality (up to BDT 5,000 without PIN), and free withdrawals from all MTB ATMs. With Mastercard’s global reach and robust security, the card enables seamless shopping, subscriptions, travel, and other international transactions—provided passport endorsement is properly completed.
Speaking about the launch, Fahim Ahmed said, “Pathao Pay is one of the easiest ways to manage your finances digitally. With Pathao Pay, you can access, transact, and manage your funds the way you need, when you need. It’s a digital finance solution designed for Bangladesh and tailored to your needs.”
The integration with Mutual Trust Bank and Mastercard ensures that the multi-currency debit card allows both domestic and international transactions. To access the wallet, users must download the Pathao Pay app and sign up.
