Actor Niloy Alamgir expressed frustration over the surprise release of his Eid drama Apon Por on the Deepto Natok YouTube channel, claiming that neither the cast nor the director was informed prior to its digital premiere. However, many have speculated that his post may be more of a promotional strategy than genuine grievance.

On 13 June, Niloy wrote on Facebook, “A drama of mine has been released today (Friday) on Deepto TV’s YouTube channel. But none of us artists were informed, not even the director. Perhaps only the producer, Mr. Ali Bashir, was aware.”

He further added, “Since it’s released on a digital platform, surely it requires some promotion. But maybe Deepto TV doesn’t feel the need for that.”

Niloy also pointed a finger at officials in Deepto TV’s digital department for not communicating with the drama’s creative team.

Director Hasib Hossain Rakhi shared Niloy’s post, commenting, “Before uploading a drama, it is important to consult with the director and artists.”

While both actor and director presented their dissatisfaction tactfully, many viewers and netizens have dismissed their protest as a calculated publicity move. Comments on Niloy’s post echoed this suspicion.

Following the post, it was not difficult to trace the drama in question. Titled Apon Por, the production was originally aired on Deepto TV on the third day of Eid and later uploaded to their YouTube channel on 13 June, following standard industry practices. Traditionally, television channels in Bangladesh do not promote YouTube releases separately, focusing their marketing efforts solely on TV broadcast.

In contrast, YouTube-based production houses typically run promotional campaigns solely for their digital content, without engaging in any television publicity.

Apon Por tells the story of Sohag, who loses his mother in childhood and later leaves for Malaysia after his father’s death, entrusting his younger brother Rezaul to their grandmother’s care. Sohag never maintains contact, and Rezaul grows up facing many hardships. One day, Rezaul travels to Malaysia with his wife, hoping to spend some days with his elder brother. Upon arrival, the couple becomes entangled in a series of dramatic events.

In the drama, Niloy Alamgir plays the elder brother, while Tania Brishty appears as his wife. Ashraful Alam Shohag, Hanif Palowan, Shormi and others also played their roles in the drama.
