Kazi Anwar Hossain, Additional Secretary of the Local Government Division, has been appointed as Secretary of the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Division following a promotion. He replaces former Secretary Shish Haider Chowdhury, who was attached to the Ministry of Public Administration after the new government assumed office.
Prior to this appointment, Additional Secretary (Administration Wing) Md. Mamunur Rashid Bhuiyan had been serving in this role since 24 February.
According to a circular issued by the Ministry of Public Administration on the night of Wednesday, 25 March, Kazi Anwar Hossain has been posted as Secretary of the ICT Division.
Notably, on the same night, the government carried out a major administrative reshuffle by appointing new secretaries to 12 ministries, divisions, and departments to enhance the dynamism of administrative activities.
The decision was announced through separate notifications issued by the Ministry of Public Administration, with changes made through promotions, transfers, and contractual appointments.
Among the newly appointed officials, Director General of the Wage Earners’ Welfare Board, Md. Golam Sarwar Bhuiyan, has been promoted to Secretary of the Jatiya Sangsad Secretariat. Khulna Divisional Commissioner Md. Mokhtar Ahmed has been appointed to the Ministry of Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment, while Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Land, Raihan Kawsar, has been made Secretary of the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change.
According to the notification, Yasmin Parveen, SDS (Additional Secretary) at the National Defence College, has been appointed Secretary of the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs. Zakaria, Chairman of the Bangladesh Food Safety Authority, has been posted to the Financial Institutions Division, while Kazi Anwar Hossain has been appointed Secretary of the ICT Division.
Additionally, Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Labour and Employment, Fahmida Akter, has been appointed Secretary of the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism, and Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Delwar Hossain, has been made Secretary of the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock. Furthermore, S M Ebadur Rahman has been appointed Secretary of the Economic Relations Division (ERD) on a one-year contractual basis.
Among the transferred officials, Secretary of the Jatiya Sangsad Secretariat, Kaniz Mowla, has been posted to the Implementation Monitoring and Evaluation Division (IMED), while Secretary of the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism, Nasreen Jahan, and Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment, Neyamat Ullah Bhuiyan, have been appointed as members of the Planning Commission. Under the same order, four secretaries have been withdrawn from their current responsibilities and attached to the Ministry of Public Administration.
