SUST Seeks Staff Details over Student Uprising Stance

Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) has issued a public notice requesting detailed information about university teachers, officers, and employees who allegedly took a stance against students and the public during the July 2024 mass uprising.

The announcement was confirmed on Thursday afternoon by the university’s Registrar, Syed Selim Mohammad Abdul Kadir.

According to the notice signed by the Registrar, “An investigation committee has been formed under the initiative of the SUST administration to identify those who opposed the student-public uprising and assisted in the attacks during the July 2024 mass movement.”

The notice further requests that “complete information, dates of the incidents, proper descriptions, and evidence (photos, videos, social media screenshots, reports published in national and local newspapers, and similar materials) related to any teachers, officers, or employees involved in the events be submitted in a sealed envelope to the Director, Office of Student Counseling and Guidance, or via email, along with the informant’s identity.”

It also assures, “The identity of the informant will be kept completely confidential by the authorities.”

Submissions will be accepted until June 26, as stated in the notice.
