Modern urban mobitech and telematics-driven transit took center stage in Keraniganj, Dhaka, on 08 October, Thursday, as ridesharing platform Uber rolled out a dedicated community awareness initiative ahead of National Road Safety Day on October 22.

The event marked the commencement of Uber's three-month road safety campaign, titled "Ride Safe. Arrive Safe," which runs through December to champion preventive safety practices and driver wellbeing. Driver partners, local leaders, and community representatives attended the event, where motorcycle safety gear—including protective helmets, riding gloves, and high-visibility reflective vests—was distributed to driver partners.

Highlighting the importance of tech-enabled safety, Gayeshwar Chandra Roy stated that road safety remains a shared civic duty, and fostering awareness among two-wheeler operators is a vital step toward accident prevention. He noted that merging technological earning avenues with proactive road safety protocols benefits both riders and commuters, affirming continued support for such tech-driven programs.

Nipun Roy Chowdhury remarked that safer transit environments require accountability, education, and multi-stakeholder participation. Welcoming the platform’s proactive field drive, she emphasized that sustained cooperation between the public sector and private mobility networks plays an instrumental role in elevating road protection standards.

Reaffirming the company's tech commitments, SM Jamshed Hasan, Country Head of Uber Bangladesh, said that safety underpins the platform's core infrastructure. He emphasized that Uber collaborates closely with administrative authorities and ecosystem stakeholders to advance defensive driving practices, leveraging engineering innovations and digital education to protect every two-wheeler journey while empowering the gig workforce.

To mitigate two-wheeler transit risks, the company actively deploys engineering safeguards within its application ecosystem. Solutions such as automated Helmet Selfie verifications, algorithmic safety alerts, live GPS route tracking, and integrated emergency SOS functionality are configured to ensure end-to-end trip security across network fleets. //DBTech/EHM/SME/MSI//
