E-Gate Expansion Emphasized at 3rd terminal of Shahjalal and Cox's Bazar International Airport

The Department of Immigration and Passports and the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) have stressed the need to expand the use of e-gates to improve passenger services and simplify the immigration process through the application of modern technology.

Air Vice Marshal M Mafidur Rahman, Chairman of the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh, announced that e-gates will also be installed at the third terminal of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) and the soon-to-be-inaugurated Cox's Bazar International Airport.

The announcement was made during a courtesy meeting on Wednesday, May 28, at the CAAB headquarters between Major General Md. Nurul Anwar, Director General of the Department of Immigration and Passports, and the CAAB Chairman. The discussion covered the effectiveness of the existing e-gates at terminals 1 and 2 of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, as well as the potential for installing similar systems in the upcoming third terminal.

In the meeting, both agencies agreed that expanding e-gate facilities is essential for integrating modern technology into immigration services and improving the overall quality of passenger handling.

The plan to introduce e-gates at Cox's Bazar International Airport was also raised, in light of its impending official inauguration as an international facility. Both institutions expressed a joint commitment to implementing timely technologies and ensuring services that meet international standards.

Senior officials from both the Department of Immigration and Passports and CAAB were present during the meeting.
