Nagad Navigates Nationwide Welfare Disbursement
More than 7.8 million beneficiaries across Bangladesh have chosen to receive their government allowances through Nagad, the digital financial service of Bangladesh Post Office. In the fiscal year 2025–2026, over 7.8 million recipients utilized Nagad to collect government welfare payments.
Additionally, under various social protection programs of the Ministry of Women and Child Affairs, the Department of Social Services’ Women and Child Protection Initiative has also been disbursing funds via Nagad. Through this initiative alone, Nagad has delivered Tk 1,650 crore to more than 7.8 million beneficiaries.
Along with this, over 7.5 million beneficiaries— including elderly citizens, widows, marginalized communities, persons with disabilities, members of the Bede community, and transgender individuals—have received welfare allowances directly into their Nagad wallets. Among these allowances, destitute and disabled individuals receive Tk 900 per month, while elderly citizens, widows, and women abandoned by their husbands each receive Tk 650 per month. These allowances were successfully delivered through Nagad’s digital disbursement system.
Under the Women and Child Protection Initiative, more than 300,000 beneficiaries received Tk 850 per month for a duration of 36 months (three years).
This information was shared by Nagad on Wednesday, November 5.
Regarding this initiative, Nagad’s Administrator Md. Motasim Billah said, “It is a matter of great pride for us that millions of beneficiaries across all 64 districts of the country have received their government allowance through Nagad. This trust from our customers will encourage us to further strengthen our digital infrastructure. We are working to ensure that every beneficiary in remote regions can receive services easily, safely, quickly, and without any intermediaries.”
In the fiscal year 2024–2025, the government disbursed Tk 9,000 crore in social safety allowances through Nagad. Building on this success, the government has continued distributing allowances through digital payment systems this year as well, further reinforcing its confidence in efficient and transparent digital service delivery.
