BUATech Trio Builds ‘BAUbrainium’ – A Social Platform for Campus Community

Three students from Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU) have launched their own social media platform, ‘BAUbrainium’, modeled after Facebook, with both web and app versions now available in beta. The platform was developed by A.K.M. Fazle Hasan Rabbi Noor, Mohammad Fahad Hasan, and Mohammad Didarul Anwar Afif—students from the Department of Bioinformatics Engineering, under the Faculty of Agricultural Engineering and Technology, batch of 2022–23.

Operating under the team name “Team Tin Ustad,” the developers say the goal of the platform is to unite current students, faculty members, and alumni on a single digital network. "The platform is designed to preserve motivational messages from teachers, real-world experiences related to higher education and careers from alumni, and advice for juniors, thereby fostering a knowledge-based community," said the developers. They added that nearly 300 users have already signed up during the beta phase, which will run for one month.

Didarul Afif explained, “Although BAU-related information is scattered across Facebook and other platforms, there was never a centralized communication tool dedicated to the university. This platform fills that void. It’s not just a social media network—it’s an emotional and proud space for all BAUians. The name itself reflects that sentiment.”

BAUbrainium includes features such as anonymous ‘Secret Messages’ for friends, short speeches from faculty members, and advice-sharing tools for juniors. The team also emphasized data security, claiming to use encrypted storage and secure servers via ExonHost to protect user information. “We have avoided collecting sensitive data, making it easier to ensure privacy,” they said.

Regarding future plans, the developers aim to integrate features such as class schedules, real-time bus tracking, academic calendars, official notices, campus news, job and internship announcements, and department-based discussion forums into the platform. A full version is expected to be launched soon.
