JU Joins the Jet Age: Wireless Internet to Cover Entire Campus

Jahangirnagar University (JU) is poised to enter a new era of high-speed wireless internet across its campus, thanks to a forthcoming service from ICC Telecommunication Ltd. The initiative is expected to liberate students from the frequent disruption of mobile data depletion, a common grievance on campus.
Currently, students residing in the university halls have access to optical fiber internet. However, stepping outside the hall boundaries forces them to rely on costly mobile data packages. This dual burden—Wi-Fi bills and additional mobile data expenses—has long been a source of frustration for the student body.
To address this issue, ICC Communication Ltd. has proposed launching a comprehensive broadband wireless service that would cover the entire campus. Ratul Bin Nazrul, Branch Manager of ICC Communication Ltd., stated, “We have already submitted our proposal to the Jahangirnagar University authorities. We are fully prepared to provide wireless internet service throughout the campus. Using a fixed IP address, students will be able to access fast, affordable internet from any point within the university premises, thereby reducing their reliance on mobile data.”
Confirming the receipt of the proposal, Pro-Vice Chancellor (Administration) Sohel Ahmed said, “If such a service is introduced, it will significantly reduce students’ internet expenses. Therefore, the university administration is moving toward making a prompt decision on the matter.”
Students have expressed eagerness and optimism, anticipating the swift implementation of the service to end the hassle of mobile data limitations and to enjoy uninterrupted connectivity throughout the university grounds.
