Bluesky may soon roll out a new blue check verification system, according to recent updates discovered in the app’s GitHub repository. The development was reported by TechCrunch.

Much like Twitter (now X), Bluesky is preparing to introduce the familiar blue checkmark — but with a significantly different approach. The upcoming system will identify multiple organizations as "trusted verifiers" and allow them to verify users, alongside Bluesky’s own verification process.

Each verified profile will display a white checkmark within a solid blue circle. For trusted institutions, the icon will appear within a wavy blue circle, distinguishing organizational verifiers from individual accounts.

Bluesky’s initiative marks a departure from X’s subscription-based verification model and signals a move toward a more decentralized and transparent verification process.
