The long-awaited film adaptation of the Call of Duty series has finally received an official release date. In a social media post on Friday (April 17), it was announced that the movie will hit theaters on June 30, 2028.

The film adaptation of the globally popular first-person shooter franchise was first announced last year. Shortly afterward, it was revealed that acclaimed creators Taylor Sheridan and Peter Berg—known for hit series like Yellowstone and Friday Night Lights—have joined the project as producers. The movie will be directed by Peter Berg, who will also co-write the screenplay alongside Sheridan.

However, no details have yet been disclosed about the film’s storyline, characters, or cast. It also remains unclear which era of the Call of Duty series the movie will be based on. With the release still more than two years away, further details are expected to emerge gradually.

Game developer Activision has confirmed that the film will draw inspiration from the series’ story-driven campaign modes and its iconic characters. Both audiences and critics are hopeful that the project could set a new benchmark for video game adaptations—though fans will need to wait a bit longer to see it unfold.
