Runner Director Gifts Shares to Children

Md. Mozammel Hossain, an entrepreneur-director of Runner Automobiles PLC, a listed company in the engineering sector of Bangladesh’s capital market, has declared his intention to transfer shares as gifts to his son and daughter. On Tuesday, April 15, he made the announcement through the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), as such transactions involving sponsors of listed companies are considered price-sensitive information.

According to DSE sources, Mozammel Hossain informed that out of his total holdings, he intends to gift 2,270,800 shares to his son Mahmud Al Nahiyan and 1,135,400 shares to his daughter Naushin Ishrat Promi. Both recipients are general shareholders of Runner Automobiles. The transfer is scheduled to be completed by April 30 and will be conducted off-market, outside the traditional trading system, as it is a gift transaction.

Runner Automobiles posted earnings per share (EPS) of BDT 0.35 in the October–December quarter of the last financial year. However, the company experienced a loss per share of BDT 0.37 during the same period, though this was a notable improvement compared to a loss of BDT 2.22 in the corresponding quarter of the previous year.

For the July–December period, the company's cash flow per share was BDT 14.11, compared to BDT 13.62 in the same period a year earlier. As of December 31, 2024, the company’s net asset value per share stood at BDT 65.53, slightly down from BDT 66.49 recorded on June 30, 2024.
