CU Holds 'AI Navigator Program-2026' on Campus

2 August, Sunday: Vice-Chancellor of Chittagong University (CU) Professor Dr. Mohammad Al-Forkan stated, "There is no scope to halt the use of AI. Formulating clear guidelines on how teachers, students, and researchers will use this technology in a responsible and ethical manner is now an urgent need of the hour."
He made these remarks as the chief guest at the artificial intelligence event 'AI Navigator Program-2026' titled 'AI for All', held at the Faculty of Business Administration Auditorium on Sunday afternoon.
Professor Dr. Mohammad Al-Forkan noted, "AI technology is opening up new possibilities across fields including the judiciary, medicine, climate change research, traffic management, oceanographic research, and data analysis. Currently, new AI tools are continuously being integrated into academic work. Therefore, establishing policy guidelines to determine the limits, ethics, and acceptability of AI usage is vital." He added that AI has become a global reality driving education, research, administration, and technology sectors worldwide.
Speaking as a special guest, Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Academic) Professor Dr. Mohammad Al-Amin remarked, "Why should our teachers, researchers, and students fall behind in this era of transformation? Recognizing this makes organizing such training programs timely and commendable. AI, control systems, and robotics are interconnected. In tomorrow's technology-driven world, this integrated knowledge will be the primary driver of development and innovation."
Presided over by Director of CU's Office for International Affairs Professor Dr. Mohammad Shahab Uddin and moderated by Suprava Islam, Communication Officer of AI Navigator & AI Confidence, the event featured special guests including Dean of the Faculty of Business Administration Professor Dr. Mohammad Saleh Zohur and Chief Executive Officer of 'Send a Little Hope' Mujahidul Islam.
Earlier, Chairman of CU Physics Department Professor Dr. Md. Rafiqul Islam, Botany Department Professor Dr. Sheikh Bakhtiar Uddin, and Professor Dr. Md. Shahidul Haque of the Communication and Journalism Department—who presented a talk titled 'Importance and Ethical Use of Artificial Intelligence in Research'—addressed the audience. Speakers shared insights regarding the future prospects of artificial intelligence and preparing students in alignment with global standards.
