In a major step toward modernizing public transport for women, Bangladesh Road Transport Corporation (BRTC) has launched POS-based e-ticketing services across its 'Women Bus' (Pink Bus) network. Shohoz Limited, a leading tech ticketing platform, is providing the digital technology and implementation support for the project.

On Sunday, August 23, a press release announced the official launch of this e-ticketing service at a special event recently held at the Tejgaon BRTC bus depot in the capital. Initially, the service has been introduced on a total of 14 women-only buses operating in Dhaka, Chattogram, and Bogura. Female passengers can quickly collect digital tickets using Point of Sales (POS) machines after boarding the bus.

Minister for Road Transport and Bridges, Railways, and Shipping, Sheikh Robiul Alam, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. State Minister Habibur Rashid, Road Transport and Highways Division Secretary Dr. Mohammad Ziaul Haque, and Ministry of Women and Children Affairs Secretary Yasmin attended as Special Guests. BRTC Chairman Abdul Latif Molla presided over the event.

To ensure seamless implementation, specialized teams from Shohoz Limited provided hands-on training to bus conductors regarding POS machine operations, issuing digital receipts, and managing transaction data. This technological initiative is expected to bring transparency to fare collection while ensuring a hassle-free commuting experience for women.
