Meta Reportedly Plans Massive AI Data Center Campus

Meta Platforms is reportedly in discussions to build a new data center campus dedicated to its artificial intelligence (AI) initiatives, with projected costs potentially exceeding $200 billion, according to a report by The Information on Tuesday. Reuters also covered the development.
The report states that Meta is considering locations in Louisiana, Wyoming, or Texas for the data center and that company executives have already conducted site visits to assess potential locations.
Since the launch of OpenAI’s ChatGPT in 2022, supported by Microsoft, investments in AI technology have surged as companies compete to integrate AI capabilities into their products and services.
However, a Meta spokesperson denied the report, stating that the company has already disclosed its data center plans and capital expenditures, and dismissed the claims as "new rumors."
Last month, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced that the company would invest $65 billion in AI infrastructure expansion in 2025. By comparison, Microsoft plans to spend $80 billion on data center development in the 2025 fiscal year, while Amazon’s spending on cloud infrastructure in 2024 is expected to exceed $75 billion.
