In a crowded smartwatch market, Google has introduced a distinct device by launching the screenless “Google Fitbit Air.” Designed for users who want accurate health data without the constant distraction of notifications, the device has been released without any display or screen. Priced at USD 99.99, pre-orders for the device have already begun.

Google said this is the smallest tracker in the Fitbit lineup to date. Its standout feature is its pebble-like design, resembling a small stone, with no screen. Being lightweight and slim, it is comfortable to wear on the wrist 24 hours a day, particularly during sleep without causing discomfort. Users who wear a Pixel Watch during the day can use the Fitbit Air at night for sleep tracking.

Despite lacking a screen, the Fitbit Air is equipped with advanced sensors capable of delivering the following insights:

  • Heart Rate: 24-hour heart rate monitoring with alerts for irregular heart rhythms (AFib).
  • Sleep Tracking: Detailed analysis of sleep stages and duration.
  • Blood Oxygen: Measurement of SpO2, resting heart rate, and heart rate variability.
  • Automatic Detection: Automatically detects activities such as exercise or walking and logs the data in the app.

All data from the Fitbit Air can be viewed in the Google Health app. It also integrates Google’s AI system, Gemini, powering a “Health Coach” that provides personalized recommendations. The AI can even analyze images—for example, taking a photo of gym equipment will allow it to automatically log details of the exercise.

The standard version of the device is priced at USD 99.99, while a special edition endorsed by basketball star Stephen Curry will be available for USD 129.99. The device will officially be available in the market from 26 May. It requires smartphones running Android 11 or later, or iOS 16.4 or later.

Notably, the Fitbit Air comes with a three-month free subscription to “Google Health Premium,” enabling users to access all AI coach features.
