National Sports Council Website Hacked by ‘Cyber Force Sanatani’

The official website of the National Sports Council (NSC), the regulatory authority for sports in the country, remained under the control of hackers for over five hours on Tuesday (January 28) before being restored around 9:00 PM. However, reports suggest the hackers were unable to cause significant damage to the site.

Earlier in the day, the NSC had published a notification announcing the formation of new ad-hoc committees for seven sports federations. By the afternoon, attempts to access the website revealed it had been hacked. The homepage displayed a message left by the hackers that read:
“Respect all Hindus and Hindu deities. I have been observing for a long time that some Muslims are disrespecting our Hindu religion. I demand an end to the oppression of Hindus. If not, all government websites will be hacked. I want to stop the disrespect and insult of Hinduism.”

The hacking group, identifying itself as “Cyber Force Sanatani,” claimed responsibility and issued warnings of further attacks on government websites if “communal violence” persists.

NSC Secretary Md. Aminul Islam stated that the website is maintained by the Bangladesh Computer Council, who were informed immediately. “They have successfully restored the website,” he confirmed.

The incident raises concerns about cybersecurity and underscores the need for enhanced protection of government digital platforms.
