CUET-the Champion in eco-concrete

The team of Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology (CUET) has won the first place in this year's international competition 'Eco Concrete Competition 2021'. 'CUETEX'. A team of 6 members from CUET's civil engineering department hoisted the red-green flag, impressing all the participants from 250 universities around the world. The members of the team are Tahsin Mahmud, Israt Jahan and Mosaddeq Hamim, third year students of Civil Engineering Department and Mahtab Ishmam, Mumtahina Alam and Jushan Abdullah, second year students. Professor Dr. GM Sadiqul Islam of the same department was in charge as the faculty advisor and mentor of CUETEX team. . The team won the award with its own presentation on increasing the service life and environmental performance of concrete structures using complementary cementitious materials as a partial replacement for ordinary Portland cement. Hisam Azari Jafari, a faculty member at the University of Michigan, announced the results on the Virtual Platform of Fall Convention 2021, organized by the American Concrete Institute (ACI). The results were announced on October 19 at 11 pm Bangladesh time. Universidad San Francisco de Quito in Ecuador and Atenio de Naga University in the Philippines awarded second and third place, respectively. In July of this year, Team CUETEX took the lead in the first round of the competition by presenting a maximum of 7 minutes of video, a report on the whole process and the results of the software in the submission round at the international level. Based on their presentation, Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology (CUET) and Islamic University of Technology, Gazipur got the place of the top 13 from Bangladesh, overtaking many international universities by announcing the results of the first phase on October 7. In the next round, the top 13 teams had to face 5 international concrete experts in a live interview. CUETEX won the first position with a great performance in the interview. CUET Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Rafiqul Alam congratulated the team CUETEX in this regard.
