PMO Delegation Embarks on Mission
Tech Adoption Drives Bangladesh-China Bilateral Ties
- Strategic engagement targets China's industrial automation, long-term engineering, and innovation models
- Proposes digital eVisa rollout alongside cross-border enterprise and technology transfer frameworks
- Aims to accelerate domestic productivity and youth employment in high-tech industries
Leveraging frontier industrial technologies, high-tech manufacturing frameworks, and scalable infrastructure models to accelerate domestic engineering capabilities took center stage on 8 October, Thursday, as Bangladesh prepared to send a high-level administrative delegation to China. At a pre-departure reception hosted by the Chinese Embassy in Dhaka, Public Administration Adviser to the Prime Minister and BNP National Standing Committee Member Md. Ismail Zabiullah emphasized building deep-tier bilateral collaboration centered on innovation and economic transformation.
Marking the second official delegation from the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), he urged delegates not to limit their schedule to formal diplomatic sessions. Instead, he underscored engaging with Chinese administrative planners, tech innovators, academic institutions, and industry specialists to study the engineering and institutional systems behind the country's sweeping economic transformation.
Addressing the delegates, Md. Ismail Zabiullah noted that they carry the mandate of 180 million citizens to study the socioeconomic shift achieved by the manufacturing superpower. He emphasized that Bangladesh must systematically absorb core lessons from China’s multi-decade strategic planning, engineering infrastructure, advanced industrialization, and tech adoption. Given that China currently anchors roughly one-third of aggregate global industrial output, its technical blueprints offer vital benchmarks for developing economies.
Reflecting on diplomatic history, he remarked that the foundations of Bangladesh-China bilateral ties were laid during the tenure of martyred President Ziaur Rahman. Over decades, this alliance has evolved into a comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership. As Bangladesh undergoes an extensive administrative and economic restructuring, integrating China’s experience in automation, productivity scaling, and tech-driven manufacturing is vital for generating high-value digital jobs for youth.
To streamline regional cross-border movement, he called for rolling out an electronic visa (eVisa) system for Bangladeshi citizens, alongside institutional arbitration channels for cross-border tech entrepreneurs, bilateral technology transfers, and engineering capacity-building.
Reaffirming the executive direction under Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, he stated that the government remains committed to scaling strategic and technological cooperation to deliver direct socioeconomic dividends. The reception saw the participation of the Chinese Ambassador, senior diplomats, PMO delegation members, and top administrative officials. //DBTech/AMPR/SMP/MSI//
