National ‘Skills and Innovation Competition 2025’ Set for 27 December; Barishal Regional Competition Concluded
The national round of the “Skills and Innovation Competition 2025” will be held on 27 December in Dhaka, aiming to foster creativity, skills, and innovative capacity among technical education students. A total of 50 innovative projects, selected from eight regional competitions, will compete at the national event. The innovators behind the top three projects will receive attractive awards.
As part of the nationwide program, the Barishal regional competition took place on Saturday, 6 December, at Barishal Polytechnic Institute.
From 15 technical institutions across the Barishal region, 132 selected students participated, presenting 44 innovative projects. Among these, four top projects were shortlisted for the national round in Dhaka on 27 December.
The competition is organized under the ASSET (Accelerating and Strengthening Skills for Economic Transformation) project, implemented by the Directorate of Technical Education under the Technical and Madrasah Education Division (TMED) of the Ministry of Education.
The event was attended by Muhammad Rafiqul Islam, Secretary of the Technical and Madrasah Education Division, as the chief guest. Special guests included Engineer Mir Zahid Hasan, Project Director of the ASSET project and Additional Secretary; Engineer Md. Rezaul Haque, Director (Vocational) of the Directorate of Technical Education; and Engineer Md. Rakib Ullah, Principal of Barishal Polytechnic Institute. The program was presided over by Barishal Deputy Commissioner Md. Khairul Alam Sumon.
The day-long event featured a colorful rally, a seminar highlighting the importance of technical education, and an award ceremony. The competition was open to visitors and attended by senior officials from TMED, teachers and students from various institutions, industry representatives, civil society members, media professionals, and parents.
Earlier, on 27 September, the institutional round of the Skills and Innovation Competition was held at 211 technical institutions across the country, where nearly 10,000 students presented 3,209 innovative projects. Three projects from each institution advanced to the regional round.
