Land Management Set for Digital Overhaul

Prioritizing integrated land management automation systems, spatial data infrastructure, and parcel-level digital zoning, the parliamentary watchdog committee outlined sweeping tech-driven modernization plans.

The first meeting of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Land in the 13th National Parliament was held on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, at the Parliament Complex, presided over by Committee Chairman Naser Rahman. The committee decisively resolved to take necessary measures to bring the Registration Directorate, currently under the Ministry of Law, under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Land. It also reviewed core technology infrastructure projects aimed at enhancing the digital survey capabilities of the Directorate of Land Records and Surveys.

Ongoing technical ventures highlighted include the Land Management Automation Project, National Digital Land Zoning Project, digitization of record rooms at Deputy Commissioner offices, nationwide digital cadastre surveys, and new administrative land complex infrastructures. The committee recommended prioritizing state revenue growth and citizen ease-of-access in executing modern projects. To fast-track digital and manual land services, members recommended filling field-level job vacancies immediately and decided to conduct an inspection visit to the central Bhumi Bhaban.

Land Minister Md. Mizanur Rahman Minu, State Minister for Land Mir Mohammad Helal Uddin, and committee members Joynal Abedin, Shah Md. Wares Ali Mamun, Ershad Ullah, Sultana Ahmed, Md. Mahbubur Rahman (Belal), and Muhammadullah participated in the meeting. Following an introductory overview covering ministerial operations, human resources, and development projections, Senior Secretary of the Land Ministry, relevant agency heads, and senior officials from the Parliament Secretariat attended the session.
