UCB Fintech Company Limited (upay), a leading mobile financial service provider in Bangladesh, has partnered with SplitPay to streamline university semester fee payments using Buy Now, Pay Later (BNPL) options for students. SplitPay serves as the technology facilitation partner for Community Bank PLC’s BNPL semester fee payment platform.
The partnership agreement was formally executed on Sunday (September 20) at upay Headquarters in Dhaka. Under this arrangement, students can pay their initial BNPL application fees via upay and apply for Community Bank PLC's semester fee financing. Upon bank approval, eligible students can repay their tuition and semester fees in easy installments based on agreed terms.
Sajjad Alam, Head of Corporate Sales at upay, and Jubair Mahmud Pulock, Founder and Managing Director of SplitPay, signed the agreement on behalf of their respective organizations.
The signing ceremony was attended by upay executives Mamun Reza Khan (Head of Technology), Arpan Kumar Saha (Head of Human Resources), and Md. Murad Hasan (Head of Private Education). Also present were Samuel Mursalin, Faculty Member at North South University (NSU); Afnan Yusuf from Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB); and Mir Mutasim Hossain, Director of SplitPay.
The collaboration is designed to relieve immediate financial stress on students and their families while furthering digital financial adoption across Bangladesh’s education sector. The BNPL solution will initially roll out across selected partner universities before extending to other institutions nationwide.
