Reinforcing nuclear safety engineering and cyber-physical infrastructure protocols, Nuclear Power Plant Company Bangladesh Limited (NPCBL) hosted a stakeholder workshop and tabletop emergency response exercise at Green City, Ishwardi. The initiative aimed to enhance local and national readiness for potential radiological emergencies at the Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant.
The event featured Dr. Syeda Naushin Parnini, Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Science and Technology, as chief guest, alongside BAERA Chairman Mahmudul Hasan as special guest. Dr. Md. Zahedul Hasan, Managing Director of NPCBL, chaired the session.
Delegates from the district administrations, police, health departments, and fire services of Pabna and Kushtia joined technical experts from BAERA and the Rooppur project.
During the first session, Dr. Zahedul Hasan presented the plant's modern safety design, highlighting both active and passive safety features engineered to international benchmarks. The second session involved a simulated emergency scenario to evaluate real-time data exchange, decision-making, and inter-agency operational alignment under IAEA protocols. Speakers confirmed that while emergency risks remain negligible, maintaining proactive preparedness bolsters public safety.
