Primary schools to launch science toys and hardship allowances soon.
Science Toys and Hardship Allowance Introduced
- The government is planning special allowances for primary school teachers serving in remote and char areas
- Next year, a pilot project introducing 'Science Toys' will spark scientific and technological curiosity in students
- Cyber tracking, online monitoring, and administrative reforms will strictly curb proxy teaching practices in schools
Integrating modern science, information technology, and hands-on learning, the government is introducing comprehensive reforms in primary education. To motivate educators in remote and riverine char areas, a distance-based hardship allowance will soon be established based on communication infrastructure and geographic remoteness.
State Minister for Primary and Mass Education Bobby Hajjaj disclosed these plans while addressing as the chief guest at a day-long training workshop titled "Classroom Management, Monitoring, Accountability and Administrative Structural Reforms in Bangladesh Primary Education," held at the Rangpur PTI Auditorium on Sunday, August 30.
The State Minister announced that starting next year, a pilot project introducing interactive 'Science Toys' will be launched in primary schools. This initiative aims to foster early interest in science, technology, mathematics, and basic engineering concepts through experimental play. Furthermore, eight mandatory sports activities will be integrated into the new curriculum to bolster physical and mental development.
Emphasizing digital monitoring and cyber accountability, he firmly warned against the prevalent proxy teacher practice. Administrative frameworks across field offices are being updated with online monitoring portals to ensure real-time reporting, regular attendance, and high-quality classroom experiences.
Chaired by Rangpur District Commissioner Israt Jahan, the workshop was attended by Director General of the Directorate of Primary Education Shahina Ferdousi, Director (Administration) Mohammad Kamrul Hasan, Joint Secretary Israt Jahan, alongside divisional and district education officers.
