Digital system links NID and Passport databases to accelerate trafficking victim returns
Home Ministry Launches Central RDMS Repatriation Platform
- Centralized RDMS platform launched to streamline verification and return of trafficking victims
- Database integrated with NID servers; real-time synchronization with Birth Registry and E-Passport underway
- Developed with technical support from Justice & Care and backing from the Australian Government
Modernizing inter-agency coordination and expediting the return of human trafficking and irregular migration survivors, the Ministry of Home Affairs has officially launched the centralized 'Repatriation Data Management System' (RDMS). The digital platform was inaugurated on Sunday, 30 August 2026, at the InterContinental Dhaka, organized in technical collaboration with Justice & Care, Bangladesh.
Presiding over the launch, Additional Secretary (Political and Immigration) Dr. Ziauddin Ahmed highlighted that the RDMS enterprise infrastructure is already interconnected with the National Identity (NID) core database. To ensure precise verification of minors and vulnerable returnees, integration with the national Birth and Death Registration systems and the Department of Immigration and Passports is currently underway. This cross-platform interoperability eliminates bureaucratic delays and reinforces data integrity.
Developed with engineering expertise from Justice & Care and upgraded with support from the Australian Government, RDMS replaces legacy manual paperwork with automated case workflows. Bangladeshi foreign missions, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Home Ministry, and the Special Branch (SB) can now execute real-time nationality authentication, secure police record verification, and monitor survivor case lifecycles over an encrypted framework.
T
he inaugural session was addressed by Additional IGP and Chief of Special Branch Sardar Nurul Amin, Special Branch DIG (SCO) Jahangir Hossain, and Counsellor at the Australian High Commission Ruben Grey. Joint Secretary Rebecca Khan delivered the opening address, while Justice & Care Country Director Tariqul Islam detailed the system's operational architecture and data governance protocols.
Representatives from diplomatic missions including the US, India, and Thailand, alongside senior officials from law enforcement and relevant ministries, attended the deployment ceremony.
