The government is taking steps to integrate the country's medical services under a unified digital network by introducing the 'National E-Health Platform'. Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has directed officials to initiate the platform's trial operations through pilot projects in selected districts.
The directives were issued during a high-level meeting on integrated ICT solutions in healthcare held at the Prime Minister’s Office in Tejgaon on Saturday (August 22), with Prime Minister Tarique Rahman presiding. During the meeting, Engineer Zakaria Swapan presented a detailed demonstration highlighting the architectural framework, operational mechanisms, and implementation scope of the platform.
Chairing the meeting, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman stated that the pilot phase must thoroughly assess operational efficacy, challenges, expenses, and feasibility before expanding nationwide. He emphasized creating a user-friendly and cost-effective system, noting: "This integrated system must be developed so that citizens can easily reap its benefits and navigate healthcare services without complexity." He particularly stressed ensuring absolute data security and patient privacy.
The meeting was attended by Minister for Health and Family Welfare Sardar Md. Sakhawat Hossain MP, State Minister Dr. M A Muhit MP, Special Assistants to the PM Dr. S M Ziauddin Haider and Dr. Shakirul Islam Khan, Health Services Division Secretary Md. Kamruzzaman Chowdhury, and ICT Division Secretary Md. Mamunur Rashid, alongside other senior officials.
