Telecommunications operator Grameenphone contributed BDT 24.60 crore to the Bangladesh Worker Welfare Foundation to enhance AI-driven workforce development. The financial transfer details were confirmed in a press release on Tuesday (August 18, 2026). The provided sum accounts for 10 percent of the company's 2025 Workers' Profit Participation Fund (WPPF).

A delegation led by Syeda Tahya Hossain, Chief Human Resources Officer of Grameenphone, presented the check to Minister of Labor and Employment Ariful Haq Choudhury. Labor Secretary Md. Abdur Rahman Tarafdar and senior officials attended the ceremony. Grameenphone has contributed BDT 329.89 crore through 2024, alongside the new BDT 24.60 crore allocation for 2025 under Bangladesh Labor Law regulations.

Syeda Tahya Hossain emphasized the company's drive to build a future-ready workplace focused on AI and digital competencies. She highlighted that partnerships with the ministry foster sustainable socio-economic growth. Grameenphone actively expands digital literacy through programs like 'Grameenphone Academy', 'Futuremakers', and 'PlatformShe' to prepare youth and women for the evolving digital economy.
