- Faculty and students present research-driven innovations
- VC stresses practical use of research and innovation
Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology (CUET) has participated in Bangladesh Innovation Fair 2026 with 14 innovative projects. The projects were developed through research and innovation by the university’s faculty and students. They cover engineering, information technology, artificial intelligence, energy, environment, infrastructure and communication.
The projects demonstrate technology-based solutions to various challenges facing Bangladesh. They also highlight the potential of engineering research for practical applications and national development.
The three-day Bangladesh Innovation Fair 2026 began at Novo Theatre in the capital on Saturday, September 12. Prime Minister Tarique Rahman attended the opening programme as the chief guest.
At noon on the opening day, CUET Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Abu Sadat Mohammad Sayem visited the university’s stall at the fair.
He inspected all 14 projects displayed by CUET. He also exchanged views with faculty members, students and researchers involved in the projects.
The fair is organised by the Ministry of Science and Technology and implemented by the National Museum of Science and Technology. The event is being held under the theme “Innovate to Market”.
Government and private organisations, innovators and researchers are displaying their initiatives at the fair. Participants include 73 universities.
The exhibits cover innovation and ideas in technology, business, education, health, agriculture and environment.
CUET’s 14 projects present innovative concepts and technology-based solutions in several important areas. These include engineering, information technology, artificial intelligence, energy, environment, infrastructure and communication.
The projects aim to make research more practical, increase the use of technology in real-world applications and demonstrate the potential of engineering-based innovation in addressing national development challenges.
Professor Dr Sajal Chandra Banik, Director of CUET’s Directorate of Research and Extension, and Section Officer Ishak Majumder were responsible for coordinating and monitoring the university’s projects.
The Vice-Chancellor’s visit and his interaction with the participating faculty members, students and researchers encouraged CUET’s participation in the fair.
Professor Dr Abu Sadat Mohammad Sayem stressed the need to further strengthen CUET’s research and innovation activities. He also emphasised putting innovative projects into practical use for national development.
