Vice-Chancellor urges job-oriented curricula aligned with industry and labour-market demands

Noakhali Science and Technology University (NSTU) Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Golam Rabbani has called for the rapid introduction of Outcome-Based Education (OBE) curricula across all university departments to improve the quality of higher education and align academic programmes with international standards.
He made the remarks while inaugurating a hands-on training workshop titled “Hands-on Training on Outcome-Based Education (OBE)” organised by NSTU’s Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) on Tuesday. Faculty members from different departments participated in the training.
Professor Dr Golam Rabbani said OBE plays an important role in improving the quality of university education and ensuring internationally competitive academic standards. As many universities have already adopted the system, NSTU should move quickly towards introducing OBE curricula in every department. Once implemented, examinations can also be conducted based on OBE curricula, he said.
Emphasising industry-academia collaboration, the Vice-Chancellor said students would eventually enter industry and the job market, making job-oriented curricula essential. Stakeholders from relevant industries should therefore be consulted to identify the knowledge and skills employers require, followed by the introduction of courses aligned with those needs.
He further said experts with experience in developing OBE curricula should be consulted. Opinions may also be sought from NSTU alumni, teachers, students, officers and employees during the curriculum development process.
The workshop was chaired by IQAC Director Professor Dr Asadun Nabi. NSTU Pro-Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Muhammad Shafiqul Islam and Treasurer Professor Dr Md Hasan Uddin attended as special guests.
Professor Dr Asadun Nabi served as the resource person. IQAC Additional Director (QA) Professor Dr Shiblur Rahman was the course director, while IQAC Additional Director (ETL) G M Rakibul Islam served as programme moderator.
Faculty members from various departments of the university participated in the training programme.
