Robi Axiata has awarded 26 winners from four special campaigns organized for customers around the football World Cup. The prizes were handed over at a special ceremony held Tuesday (August 11) at Robi’s headquarters in Tejgaon, Dhaka.
Robi Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director Ziad Sattar, Head of Marketing Md. Shawkat Kader Chowdhury and other relevant officials attended the event.
For the World Cup, Robi organized various football-themed digital and non-digital activities through the My Robi app. These included the “Quizmaster,” “Snap & Graffiti,” “Who Will Be Football’s Octopus?” and “Mouli Pack World Cup” campaigns.
Quizmaster
Through the Quizmaster campaign, customers had the opportunity to participate in a football quiz every day through the My Robi app. Participants earned points based on their correct answers throughout the World Cup. At the end of the competition, 11 winners were selected from among those with the highest scores.
Snap & Graffiti
The Snap & Graffiti campaign allowed customers to participate by taking photographs in front of World Cup-themed graffiti created by Robi at different locations across the country. Eleven winners were selected based on the photographs they submitted.
Who Will Be Football’s Octopus?
The most talked-about campaign, “Who Will Be Football’s Octopus?”, allowed participants to predict the likely winners of the World Cup, Golden Boot and Golden Ball awards. More than 40,000 people participated in the competition.
Three participants who made the closest and most accurate predictions throughout the tournament were selected as winners.
Mohammad Nawajes Haque Sarker was named third runner-up. Kamrul Hasan became second runner-up and received a 50-inch smart LED television. Mihajul Karim was the first runner-up and received a 55-inch smart LED television.
Mohammad Ataur Rahman became the mega champion. Because of his remarkable predictions and success, he was humorously dubbed “Bangladesh’s Octopus.” He received a Royal Enfield motorcycle as the grand prize. He is from Noakhali.
At the event, the organizers said that making such accurate predictions throughout the World Cup among more than 40,000 participants was certainly no ordinary achievement. The success of the three winners was therefore specially celebrated.
Meanwhile, among the winners of the graffiti campaign present at the ceremony were Moklesur Rahman from Keraniganj, Dhaka; Anjan Palash; Mohammad Nawajes Haque Sarker; Mohammad Tanvir Ismail from Lakshmipur; and Sabrina Hossain. Organizers said that some winners could not attend because they live in different parts of the country. Their prizes will be delivered to them later.
