A Novoair flight operating from Dhaka to Cox's Bazar safely returned to Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Friday evening after experiencing a landing gear malfunction shortly after takeoff.

Flight VQ-935 departed Dhaka at around 6:30 pm. During the initial phase of the flight, the pilots identified a problem with the aircraft's landing gear and, following standard safety procedures, decided to return to the airport.

A Novoair spokesperson said the pilot acted in accordance with established safety protocols after detecting the malfunction. All passengers were later transported to Cox's Bazar on another aircraft.

According to the airline, the aircraft's landing gear failed to retract properly after the command was issued. The hydraulic system also produced unusual noises while the landing gear remained extended.

One of the passengers, journalist Tanbirul Miraj Ripon from Cox's Bazar, wrote on social media that the flight had to make an emergency return approximately 30 to 40 minutes after takeoff because the landing gear remained deployed and was producing loud noises.

Novoair currently operates a fleet of five ATR 72-500 turboprop aircraft.
